Why magnesium is essential for muscle and bone health
About 60% of your magnesium lives in your bones, where it helps regulate calcium and vitamin D. In muscles it balances contraction and relaxation — low levels show up as cramps and fatigue.
Getting enough
Leafy greens, nuts, seeds, beans and whole grains are rich sources. Supplements come in several forms; glycinate and citrate are usually easiest on the stomach.
Magnesium can interfere with some antibiotics and osteoporosis medications. Ask us how to space them out.
