Understanding prebiotics and their role in gut health
Prebiotics are fibers your body can’t digest but your gut bacteria can. Fermenting them produces short-chain fatty acids that nourish the gut lining and calm inflammation.
Where to find them
Garlic, onions, leeks, asparagus, bananas, oats and chicory root are rich sources. Add them gradually to limit gas and bloating.
If you have IBS or take medications that affect digestion, ask our pharmacists which prebiotic foods or supplements make sense for you.
